AFCEA is a professional association that connects people, ideas and solutions globally.

We do that by developing networking and educational opportunities and providing them worldwide in an ethical manner. This enables military, government, industry and academia to align technology to meet the needs of those who serve in critical areas, which include defense, security, cyber and intelligence.   

As a member-based, nonprofit 501(c)6 organization, we have a long history of encouraging innovation and advancing technology to ensure preparedness and security. We officially formed in 1946, but our organizational roots trace back to the Civil War.  

The association includes individual members and corporate members, and AFCEA's international regional chapter network helps members build networks, grow relationships and expand opportunities. AFCEA members and constituents include professionals in military, government, industry and academia.  

AFCEA NOVA membership connects you with the region’s most influential network of Government, military, and industry leaders. Through monthly luncheons, IT Days, and special events, members gain direct access to decision-makers and meaningful business connections in an ethical, collaborative setting.

Our events provide valuable professional insights, featuring top Government speakers discussing current policies, emerging technologies, and how IT enables national security. Members also enjoy unique opportunities to connect one-on-one through Small Business Breakfasts, GAME mentoring events, the Annual Golf Outing, and Emerging Leaders socials.

Membership also helps make a real difference. Proceeds from chapter activities fund the AFCEA NOVA Education Fund, which provides scholarships and grants to local students pursuing STEM education. Members can further engage by joining committees or volunteering to help plan and run events—building leadership skills while giving back to the community.

As part of AFCEA International’s 30,000+ member network, AFCEA NOVA members also gain access to national and global conferences, exhibitions, and symposia that foster collaboration and innovation across defense, cybersecurity, and information technology.
