Master Gunnery Sergeant (MGySgt) Daniel M. Jackson is the Senior Enlisted Leader for Total Force Fitness within the Warfighter Performance Optimization directorate in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Readiness. In this capacity, he provides senior enlisted leadership and counsel in support of Total Force Fitness initiatives that strengthen warfighter readiness and performance across the force.

MGySgt Jackson enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1999 and began his career as a Motor Transport Operator, completing Marine Combat Training and Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) schooling at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He reported to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he served with 8th Motor Battalion and later 2nd Transportation Support Battalion, deploying early in his career in support Dynamic Mix to Greece.
After a brief period in the private sector, MGySgt Jackson re-enlisted in 2005 and laterally moved into Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS), serving in progressively senior positions across the operating forces and supporting establishments. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving at Camp Fallujah, and later returned to Iraq at Al Asad Air Base. He subsequently served overseas in Japan and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom at Camp Leatherneck.

Following completion of the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy Advanced Course, MGySgt Jackson held a series of leadership roles at Quantico and Henderson Hall, where he was deeply involved in the High Intensity Tactical Training (HITT) program. In 2014, he earned the Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F) certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He helped create the HITT program methodology and introduce it force-wide, assisted in creating the Force Fitness Instructor program and associated secondary MOS, and was instrumental in implementing Marine Corps Total Fitness (MCTF) to bring human performance optimization efforts together in an integrated approach for the Service.

He later served at Headquarters Marine Corps as an occupational field trainer and Services Chief, supporting training, education, and career progression for his MOS and serving as a Contracting Officer’s Representative for enterprise contracts. Promoted to MGySgt in March 2017, MGySgt Jackson has continued to serve in senior enlisted leadership roles, including as the senior enlisted advisor to the director, Marine Corps Community Services and as the Enlisted Occupational Field Sponsor for the 4133 field, and was hand selected to serve as Senior Enlisted Advisor to the 20th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, 2023-2025.

MGySgt Jackson has been married to Lesley C. Jackson for twenty-seven years. They have two children, Austin (28) and Kyrstin (24).

MGySgt Jackson’s personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars in lieu of forth award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award.
