Major General Peter A. Gallagher serves as the Director of the Network Cross-Functional Team within Army Futures Command. He is responsible for the focused integration and disciplined innovation to modernize the Army’s network.
MG Gallagher previously served as the Director of Networks, Services and Strategy in the Army Chief Information Officer/G-6; responsible for strategy, policy and guidance to enable mission command across the Army’s Global Enterprise Network.
MG Gallagher was commissioned as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Pittsburg State University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Physical Education and holds a Master’s degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College.
MG Gallagher spent the majority of his career providing communications support to Conventional and Special Operations Forces throughout the world. He has deployed numerous times in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. His recent staff assignments included Deputy Director of the Joint Staff Pakistan-Afghanistan Coordination Cell, International Security and Assistance Force-Afghanistan CJ-6, Executive Officer to the CIO/G-6, and Director, J-6 in United States Central Command (US CENTCOM).
MG Gallagher has commanded soldiers at the Platoon, Company, Troop, Battalion, Squadron, and Brigade, and Army Direct Reporting Unit levels. His command assignments include Commander of the Joint Communications Unit, Battalion Commander for the 112th Signal Battalion, Squadron Commander of a Special Mission Unit, and Brigade Commander for Defense Information Systems Agency Central Field Command. He also served as Deputy Commanding General and later Commanding General Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM).
MG Gallagher’s awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal (2nd OLC), Legion of Merit (1st OLC), Bronze Star Medal (2nd OLC), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1st OLC), the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd OLC), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Combat Action Badge, Military Freefall Parachutist Badge, Master Parachutists Badge, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge.
MG Gallagher and his wife have been married for 35 years. They have two sons, both are Soldiers.
