Wing Commander Sean Langrish is an Air Ops officer whose early service was principally in the field of tactical Air Command & Control (Air C2). After completing schooling in his native South Africa, Langrish undertook Initial Officer Training at the RAF College, Cranwell, in 2001 before training as an Air Ops (Systems) officer. He was initially employed within the UK Air Surveillance and Control System (ASACS), which included detachments to Cyprus in support of Op ABROAD and to 303 Signals Unit (303SU) in the Falkland Islands. In 2005 he was posted to No.1 Air Control Centre and completed two Op HERRICK detachments as part of a small team providing tactical Air C2 over southern Afghanistan. Returning to the ASACS in 2008, Langrish qualified as a Surveillance Director and was appointed as the Surveillance Training Officer at Control & Reporting Centre, RAF Scampton. Following a stint as the Senior Operations Officer at 303SU in the Falklands, Langrish was posted to the Joint Data Link Management Organisation in 2010. In 2011 Langrish deployed to Poggio Renatico, Italy, as the Joint Interface Control Officer in support of Op UNIFIED PROTECTOR, responsible for management of tactical data link operations of the Combined Joint Force. Promoted Squadron Leader in 2013, Langrish joined the Joint Force Air Component HQ at RAF High Wycombe. In 2014 he undertook an Exchange Officer post within HQ Air Force Space Command at Peterson AFB, Colorado, working in the Strategic Plans Branch. He returned to the UK in Oct 2017 to assume command of the UK Space Operations Centre at RAF High Wycombe. On promotion to Wing Commander in Sep 2019, Langrish undertook Advanced Staff Training at the Mubarak Al-Abdullah Joint Command & Staff College in Kuwait. In Jul 2020, Langrish was assigned to the British Defence Staff in the US as SO1 Space. Langrish is married and has a daughter aged 9 years. With a passion for wildlife, he enjoys self-drive safaris in southern Africa. His sporting interests include rugby, cricket, tennis and golf.
