Col. Zachary S. Warakomski is the Senior Cyber Officer, U.S. Space Force, the Pentagon, Washington D.C. In this role, he provides advice to the Chief of Space Operations on the U.S. Space Force’s cyber, spectrum and warfighting communications policy, strategy, and operations. Col Warakomski is also the career field manager for the cyber operations officers of the U.S. Space Force. Prior to this assignment, he was the Deputy Commander, Combined Force Space Component Command, U.S. Space Command, Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif, where he led more than 17,000 joint and combined personnel with a mission to plan, integrate, conduct, and assess global space operations in order to deliver combat relevant space capabilities to Combatant Commanders, Coalition partners, the Joint Force, and the Nation.

Col. Warakomski entered the U.S. Air Force as a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1998 and transferred to the United States Space Force in 2021. He commanded the 56th Communications Squadron at Luke AFB, Ariz, and the 375th Communications Group at Scott AFB, Ill. Prior to his current assignment, Col. Warakomski served as Commander, Peterson-Schriever Garrison, and then Commander, Space Base Delta 1 at Peterson SFB, Colo. He has served in a variety of operational and staff assignments spanning the squadron, group, wing, numbered Air Force, major command and combatant command levels. In addition, he has served in positions at Headquarters Air Force, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and as Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
