COL Carlos Jaffett assumed duties the Chief Information Officer (CIO)/G‐6 23 August 2021. A native of Tampa, FL, he enlisted in the Army as a 13E (Fire Direction Control Specialist) in 1996.
In 2001, he was commissioned as second lieutenant through OCS in the Florida National Guard, Signal Corps. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. He holds two master’s degrees: one in Information Technology Management from Webster University, St Louis, MO and one in Strategic Studies from the Army War College, Carlisle, PA.
His military education includes Signal Corps, Basic and Captain Career Courses; Battalion/Brigade S‐6 Course; Command and General Staff College; United States Army War College; and Air Assault School.
His assignments include: Telecom Officer, 146th Signal Battalion, Jacksonville, FL; Platoon Leader, 146th Signal Battalion, Homestead ARB and MacDill AFB (in support of OPERATION NOBLE EAGLE); Battalion Signal Officer (S6), 53d Brigade Support Battalion, St. Petersburg, FL; Company Commander, Charlie Company, 53d Special Troops Battalion, Pinellas Park, FL; ROTC Cadre at Florida State University and Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, FL; Battalion Operations Officer (S3), 53d Special Troops Battalion, Pinellas Park, FL. In 2011, he transferred to the Army Reserve and was assigned to the G6 section of Army Reserve Medical Command, Pinellas Park, FL. His deployments include rotations to the CENTCOM AOR in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and OPERATION IRAQI.
