Chief Warrant Officer 3 Zach Cervantes is currently serving as an Electromagnetic Warfare Subject Matter Expert within Headquarters, Department of the Army G-3/5/7 – Strategic Operations. Prior to serving as a Warrant Officer, CW3 Cervantes served in the United States Air Force as an Avionics and EW Technician responsible for the maintenance and operation for targeting, navigation and electronic warfare pods. CW3 Cervantes has served in 1st Armored Division, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, Fort Bliss, Texas; 17th Field Artillery Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord; Washington; United States Force Afghanistan Aviation Task Force, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, and as Senior EW Advisor 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

CW3 Cervantes has extensive experience developing and integrating Army EW programs at the tactical and operational level. While assigned to 25th ID, he resourced and equipped the Division with its first organic EW capability for the MQ1-C Gray Eagles. He also developed and executed an innovative project leveraging existing commercial and government off-the-shelf systems to develop a networked EW solution. This capability was integrated and showcased during Operation Lightning Strike, the Division’s first combined-arms live fire built upon the tenants of Multi-Domain Operations. A resulting white paper was published in the March-April 2020 edition of the Military Review.

CW3 Cervantes’ military education includes Warrant Officer Candidate School, EW Warrant Officer Basic Course, EW Warrant Officer Advanced Course, Joint EW Theater Operations Course, Army Space Enabler Qualification, Army Cyberspace Operations Planner Course, Tactical Information Operations Course, Joint Firepower Course, Non-Traditional EW Application Course, and USAF Special Operation School Dynamics of International Terrorism. He is also a graduate of Joint-Staff certified Information Environment Advanced Analysis course sponsored by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence (OUSD(I)).
